On The Periphery – Exhibition and Book Launch
Over the last ten years under the name Mad Mods And A Camera, I’ve been documenting modern Britain’s thriving Mod subculture. From a chance encounter with a group of Mods outside a North London café on Remembrance Sunday, 2015, it’s taken me on a photographic journey. To scooter ride-outs, Mod festivals and conventions in different countries. To the launch of my own Mod-themed magazine, The Scene. And even to a photographic shoot with the Modfather himself, Paul Weller.
On The Periphery
For me, the American photographer and photojournalist, Alfred Eisenstaedt summed up the essence of photography: “It’s more important to click with people than to click the shutter.” So, this last decade’s been about building trust, friendships, and strong connections with all those who’ve welcomed me into their vibrant Mod subculture.
I’ve never claimed to be a Mod, although I always loved the look, the music and the scooters. And over ten years I’ve developed a genuine passion for everything Mod. But I’m still just a guest, rather than a participant – standing On The Periphery, looking in – and that’s how I prefer it.

Exhibition and book
The On The Periphery exhibition and accompanying book celebrate my decade-long journey. Reflecting the close bond I’ve developed with the Mods I’ve met and the Mod culture they represent. You can pre-order the On The Periphery book, either for collection at the exhibition, or for home delivery here. All proceeds from sales of the book will go towards The National Brain Appeal.
